The Makers | Inside Our Shanghai Factory
A visit to where Permanence began.
Just over the Yangtze River - one of the largest in the world - sits the small city of Jiangyin. It's a three-hour drive from Shanghai, past rice fields and river crossings, to a place that has quietly become the heart of our woven collection.

Here, inside a family-run factory that's been operating for over 30 years, is where our Permanence pieces were brought to life. Every shirt, pant and blazer that carries the WNSDY label have passed through these hands - ones that have spent decades perfecting their craft, refining the smallest details until they felt just right.

The patternmaker has been with the business for 20 years. He moves with calm precision, re-measuring seams and reworking lines until the fit feels effortless. Johnny, the owner, watches on - part mentor, part friend. He cares about our business as much as he does his own, and over time, our relationship has grown from professional to something that feels more like family.

Days here are spent between fittings and fabric rolls, shared lunches around a small table, and an occasional glass of wine in the evening. Conversation flows easily - part work, part life. We talk about our kids, the weather in Sydney, the changing pace of fashion.

It's in these moments that the meaning of Permanence took shape. It's not just about how long something lasts, but the care, respect and human connection that hold it together.
Captured through our eyes.
